Grants-in-Aid for First and Second Year Teachers

About the Grant-in-Aid     (The February 15 DEADLINE has passed.)

In its annual budget, ELAC allocates $2,500 to be offered as five $500 grants to assist first- and second-year teachers to defray the costs of attending the annual conference.

If you are a first or second year teacher, or if you know of a first or second year teacher who is considering attending this years ELAC conference, you may wish to apply for one of these grants.  See below for criteria, application form, and obligations associated with the award.

Successful applicants must:

  • Complete an expense form and submit all necessary receipts. (Must be done within 30 days of attending conference.)
  • Complete a brief write-up describing your experiences at the conference for publication in Alberta Voices, ELAC's news journal. (Must be done within 30 days of attending conference.) 
  • Attend the AGM during the conference to be introduced to the membership as a grant recipient.
  • Obtain (or hold) a current membership in the English Language Arts Council. You must be a member of the Council to be considered for this award. Please note: Any expense related to joining the Council is not subject to reimbursement.
