ELAC HONORARY Membership Award
This award recognizes outstanding service towards English language arts instruction, and to the cause of Education in Alberta.
For 2011, ELAC the teacher receiving this award was selected at the February meeting of the ELAC Executive Committee.
At ELAC's 2011 Annual Conference in Banff, the recipient of the ELAC's Honorary Membership Award was Carole Beaton. |

ELAC Teacher Merit Award
The Teacher Merit Award recognizes excellence in the teaching of English Language Arts in Alberta classroom. ELAC members are encouraged to nominate a colleague for the award in 2012.

ELAC Grants-in-Aid for 1st- and 2nd-year Teachers
In its annual budget, ELAC allocates $2,500 to be offered as five $500 grants to assist first- and second-year teachers defray the costs of attending the annual conference. DEADLINE for applications is February 1st, 2012.
If you are a first- or second-year teacher wanting to attend ELAC's Annual Conference, we suggest that as early as SEPTEMBER you request PD monies from your school or school district. If you can demonstrate that you have been unable to receive such support, apply to ELAC for possible grant monies.
Applicants for the Grants-in-Aid will be chosen by ELAC's Executive at its February Meeting.

ELA teachers may also apply for conference monies from their Alberta Teachers' Association through the ATA Educational Trust .
ELAC Teacher-Researcher Grants
Through its Teacher-Researcher Grants, ELAC also offers to its members the opportunity to devise and complete a research project related to English language arts.
