Teacher Time Out!
For each of its annual conferences
ELAC chooses locations that comfort and rejuvenate
--but don't necessarily cloister!
While navigating through a
packed conference schedule,
some teachers managed to
find time to enjoy
the ambiance of
Jasper Park Lodge.

What's an ELAC Conference without draw prizes? For 2008, the Conference Committee as well as the three Regional Chapters of ELAC added to attendees' trove of conference treasures.

Grants-in-Aid Winners

|
Each year, ELAC offers monies as grants-in-aid to help first- and second-year years attend an ELAC conference. For 2008, ELAC awarded seven such grants during the conference at its Annual General Meeting.
Several other teachers were also assisted through the generosity of ELAC's Regional Chapters. |
Book Club Evening
Teacher Merit Award
|
Each year, ELAC recognizes the generosity and excellence of a teacher who has made significant contributions to colleagues' teaching of ELA and to the language learning of Alberta's students.
For 2008, teacher Joanne Biegun was the deserving recipient ELAC's
Teacher Merit Award. |
Honorary Membership Award
Teachers volunteer their time
to help ELAC meet the needs
of fellow ELA teachers
throughout Alberta.
Many members have offered
yoeman service to the Council
for much of their
teaching careers.
For 2008, ELAC
had the honor of awarding its
Honorary Membership Award
to a most deserving colleague:
Audrey Martyn.

Farewells and Looking Forward
They'll Be Baaaack!
Each year, our conference committees strive to create a conference that offers unparalled PD, networking and rejuvenation.
Not surprisingly, some teachers
make ELAC's Annual Conference
a must-attend!
