Regional Chapter Activities at a Glance: 2011-2012
Calgary District and Region ELAC offers opportunities for you to meet, collaborate and learn with your English Language Arts colleagues.
You are invited to choose ELAC as your specialist council (go tohttp://elac.teachers.ab.ca/Pages/Home.aspx and follow the links) and to attend our upcoming events. Watch for these events upcoming in the 2010-2011 school year:
October 15 – Beginner Teachers Conference
Courtney Rosvold presented sessions to beginner teachers on planning, learning strategies and assessment. Calgary District and Region also provided lots of door prizes and giveaways.
November 24 – Fall Workshop (Thursday p..m.)
This well-attended workshop focused on approaches to Dragon Naturally Speaking and teaching Shakespeare.
January 11 – The Mid-Winter Break
Teachers re-energized with fellow English Language Arts colleagues at Kilkenny’s Pub in Brentwood Mall.
February 17 – 18 (Teachers Convention) – Meet and Greet
Come and meet your regional executive, ask any questions that you have, and spend some time with other ELAC members.
April 18 – Spring Workshop (PM)
TBA .
May 4-5 – For the Love of Learning (Capri Centre in Red Deer)
Calgary District and Region will once again donate gift baskets of goodies.
May – AGM and High Tea
Dates and Times to be announced.
We will be hosting our Annual General Meeting at a high tea. Come share stories and practices from the year and talk with colleagues. At this event, we also celebrate with those of our "Friends of ELAC" who are retiring.

No-charge Annual Membership in ELAC is now available. All teachers who are members of the Alberta Teachers' Association have the opportunity to join one Specialist Council each year without charge. Choose ELAC.
